The Possibility of America: 250 Years and Counting

by Rev. Dr. Roger Jones

Sunday, April 19, 2026

In eight states, this is Patriots’ Day, a holiday marking the 1775 battles in Massachusetts which began the American Revolution.  Today we reflect on the lead up to the Declaration of Independence made by 13 separate colonies. Over 250 years as a  republic, its people have continued to shape as varied values and longing have called us. Our past is complicated and our present is filled with pain, but the future remains open. Speaking of possibilities, today we will have a brief ritual to bless babies in our UUSS family.

  • Baby-blessing Ritual during the service
  • Spiritual Practice: Tai Chi & Qi Gong in the Fahs Classroom at 9:30
  • Men’s Group Monthly Meeting 12:00 noon
  • Adult Enrichment Forum: 12:00 noon in the Fahs Classroom with Alicia Doktor
