Family Ministry Events

Family Dinner potlucks take place on the second Friday of the month through October, in the Welcome Hall. All are welcome. Doors open at 5:30, 6pm chalice lighting and dinner. It’s okay to come if you are not able to bring a dish. Plates, cups, and silverware (the reusable kind) are provided. No sign up required. Send questions to CrystalFountain@uuss.org

Lego building will be an activity that is available for those interested (of any age). Mixed legos will be there for use, but you could also bring Lego or other building sets for your own use.

Before Service Parents’ Group

Sunday, August 23 9:15-10:15am (arriving late is ok!)

Join us on 4th Sundays before service in Room 12 to connect as parents/caregivers of babies, children and teens (expectant parents and parenting grandparents are welcome). Take a breath, have a chat, and a cup of tea.

Staffed childcare is available next door in Room 11.

Light breakfast (fruit and cereal bars) and tea are provided. Please use the main UUSS entrance to access Room 12 and not the parking lot side.

Come to the Backpack Blessing on Sunday, August 23 at the beginning of service!

If you are a student, trainee, or teacher who is starting a new school term or other studies this fall, you are invited to join the backpack blessing ritual at the beginning of service on Sunday, August 23. Bring your backpack, briefcase, notebook or other symbol of your efforts to be blessed (or keep such things in mind as you receive the blessing yourself). You have the option to share what you are starting this fall (or not!) There is no sign-up for this ritual. All ages and stages of life are welcome to join!

The Family Ministry Team serves as the umbrella committee for ministry to families with children and for inter-generational programming at UUSS. This includes supporting children’s religious education programming, parenting groups and classes, youth and children’s groups (separate from RE or Sunday School), inter-generational activities, and the integration of children and youth into Sunday mornings.

Our Family Ministry Team mission is to promote family-friendly, church community events and support family-friendly programming throughout the year.
