Another Good Deed, Indeed, On the UUSS Parkway Mile

Out on the morning of Saturday, August 11, on the American River Parkway were 15 good spirits who walked and worked to rid UUSS’s adopted mile of about 400 lbs of trash. And they still managed to smile about it afterward!  Among the pleasing things that happen in doing this work are frequent expressions of appreciation

UU Parkway Stewards At It Again!

A fine crew of UUs turned out on June 9 to clean up our adopted mile of the Parkway. It was a special treat to have the company of Alice Lopes, the new Volunteer Coordinator of the American River Parkway Foundation.  With many of our regular volunteers away at the “All-Ages Camp”, we still had a

Hi, Folks, How swiftly the seasons change!  It seems so recently that the UU mile was under water; but now, after a verdant spring and luxuriant growth in summer, the Parkway is already showing signs of autumn- and also the trash that results from heavy use in prime-time.  We’ll have a chance to sort out

UU Parkway Mile Cleanup Postponed To April 15

Hi, Folks, A short walk on the UU Mile of the Parkway today revealed what hath been wrought* in the succession of spring following the flood.  What lay before me was surprising, indeed.  A scene barren, brown and bathed in mud last month is now, in most part clad in the multi-hued greens of springtime.

Difference Makers Can Have Fun, Too!

Here, fresh off the American River Parkway on Saturday morning, is our crew of fourteen* fine folks who came out after “le deluge” to help begin the restoration of the area by cleaning up trash, and to observe what the force of the river had done to the UU Mile.  While on our useful walk, other
