For this M.L. King Sunday, we learn about and remember the hidden organizer of the 1963 March on Washington, Bayard Rustin (1912-1987).  African American and openly gay, Rustin’s brilliant resistance methods and self-affirming honesty were rooted in the Quaker spirituality of the grandmother who reared him.  In these times, his life serves both to challenge us and inspire us.
