This team is for YOU😊

Join the “Campus Beautification Team”, working and landscaping together for a welcoming home at 2425 Sierra Blvd.

To keep the UUSS campus beautiful, it takes the Grasshoppers and others to maintain the grounds. We have separated plant and bush areas from grass and are asking volunteers to choose one area to be “yours” to weed, deadhead or trim monthly. You will need gloves and garden clippers. Rakes, shovels, and a few hand shovels are available in the shed; Krystal will help with where to dispose weeds and trimmings.

Some areas, for instance, deadheading and weeding the yellow roses, may need 2-4 people maintaining it. You (and your designated area landscapers) can decide a day to meet for monthly maintenance or decide that one or two persons take a month on a rotating basis.

We welcome any ideas on improving your area, and all ideas must be presented to the APMC (Admin Property Management Committee) for approval/disapproval. APMC is responsible for vetting permanent projects and expenditures for the campus.

Choose an area and let Glory Wicklund, know your choice and if you have questions.

a) Area in front of Roger’s office

b) Front section of White Roses and Swale

c) Adjoining front section with purple-tipped plants*. This area will need new irrigation (APMC will install that) and you will be part of planting two red Crepe Myrtle trees! *Identify the ‘purple-tipped plant’ and win new clippers.

d) Parking lot area roses by white Crepe Myrtles, deadheading and weeding.

e) Area by front handicap parking, Oregon grape, and trim bushes at end of walkway near Oak trees.

f) Cypress tree area, trim bush and around the concrete circle.

g) Trim and weed Memorial Area by entrance.

h) Weed inside fence areas, half circles by Kitchen and Roger’s office, and planting beds around Patio.

i) Weed Sierra Blvd. between Entrance and Service driveways.

j) Weed Sierra Blvd. between Service driveway and Duplexes.

k) Future project: Rear creek area near Sierra has many spring bulbs that may need replanting elsewhere.

  1. Wondering if some group needs a little extra help. Not nec planning to commit regularly, but interested in sometimes helping. I’d probably be best @ trimming & deadheading as i had hip replacement year ago (doing fine tho). Probably sitting or crawling on ground could be ok thon just not so much constant up & down. I’m not into planning gardens & planting (unless told what & where specifically). And shouldn’t be a tree climber nor too high on a ladder.

I try to do tai chi early morns M-F, so Sat would likely be best for our “warm” Sac weather. Anyway, if I can be of help or fill-in sometime, please let me know.
