Amid other examples of social hate and attacks on human rights, we’ve seen a resurgence of anti-Semitism, hostility against migrants and refugees, new laws to repress trans youth and adults, and no-exception bans on abortion services.  In facing these assaults on human worth freedom, it is not sufficient or convincing to say: “we’re all the same.” We must learn about human difference rather than shy away from it in order to promote human dignity and safety.
