I Love My Chicken: The Avoidable Suffering of Animals and Humans

by Rev. Dr. Roger Jones

Unitarian Universalist Society of Sacramento

Sunday, August 23, 2026

This service draws on resources of the Unitarian Universalist Animal Ministry, which celebrates loving relationships between people and their pets; it also promotes ways to reduce the suffering of animals raised for food in the massively mechanized food-animal industry. Factory farming hurts farm workers too. Come to learn ways we can diminish harm.

We start the service with a Backpack Blessing for a new school year. Come and be recognized, whether you are a teacher, tutor, staff or student—in preschool, home school, grades 1-12 as well as college, vocational, or professional school. Take the love and goodwill of UUSS to school!

Before service: Embodied Spiritual Practices at 9:30 am in the Fahs Room
Parents & Caregivers’ Meeting with tea & snacks in Room 12
After the service: People of Color Caucus meet & greet at noon.
After the service: Exploring Unitarian Universalism at noon with Rev. Roger
