Bearing Fruit on Different Branches of the Family Tree:  UUs and Progressive Protestants

by Rev. Dr. Roger Jones

Sunday, October 11, 2026

Our comparative-religion theme in October is Protestantism.  Unitarianism emerged on the liberal end of the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s in Europe and 1700s in America.  Of course, after many transformations over the years, Unitarian Universalism looks a lot different today. There’s a variety of beliefs among us.  Yet all along the way we have held many values in common with progressive Protestant relatives (but not the right-wing ones).  Let’s look at the intellectual and moral principles that connect us. Let’s find courage in common purpose.
