“The original meaning of the word ‘appreciate’ means to move toward what is precious. So practicing gratitude reengages our aliveness—and awakens us to what is precious.”
Mark Nepo
November is the month of Thanksgiving. Sadly this day has become more about turkey and football then taking time to feel gratitude. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Perhaps your family has a practice of naming the things they are grateful for before the family meal. If not, this might be a good year to start one.
In our Soul matters groups this month we will be doing a deep dive into gratitude by reflecting on big moments in our life and naming people who made a difference during those moments. For example you may have had a time of mental or physical illness. When you think about that time who comes to mind with gratitude for how they supported you.
The Soul Matters materials for this month have some great ideas for nurturing gratitude. Check them out. And come our annual gratitude service on November 23rd and where we nurture gratitude in community.
