Hello Religious Education Families,
I was energized to see some very engaged singers at the 10:30-10:50 am rehearsal yesterday morning, Sunday, November 11! We started working on the song we will be singing with the adult choir for the December 23 service, The Message of the Holly. It is a beautiful piece and fairly easy to learn. We also worked on getting comfortable using our singing voices and did a fun ball-passing game from Jamaica called, “Maganani.” If your child has not yet joined us for a rehearsal, don’t worry; it is not too late! We would love to have as many kids as possible join us in the upcoming weeks!
The Message of the Holly: Practicing at Home
The Message of the Holly — words which you are welcome to work on with your child. You can sing along with this YouTube video whenever you have 5-10 minutes, or when you are on your way somewhere in the car!
December 23 Rehearsal and Performance
As Miranda has shared in previous messages, you are welcome to rehearse with your child and sing along with the combined group on December 23. We will rehearse with the adult choir (under the direction of Keith Atwater) before the Sunday,
December 23 performance from 9:45-10:30 am.
I will have copies of the music available anytime in case you are a music reader.
Guitar and Ukulele Players Welcome!
Also, if there are youth string players who would like to join the group as an instrumentalist rather than a singer,
contact me directly () for details and a copy of the music.
I look forward to getting to know your children better through this fun holiday collaboration!
