Pink Haven

Pink Haven at UUSS
The Pink Haven Coalition is a collective of organizations and individuals who are committed to supporting politically persecuted transgender Americans.
UUSS has committed to becoming a Pink Haven Welcoming Village, which means we are organizing as a community to support trans and non-binary individuals, or families with gender-diverse children, fleeing hostile states and relocating to the Sacramento area.
Aid that we provide to these “Kin” (in Pink Haven lingo) could include, as needed case by case: temporary housing for up to six months, help connecting with schools and community services, financial and material donations, help with moving from temporary to permanent housing, and, in general, the loving care and welcome the UUSS community excels at providing.
Kin will be routed to us by the Pink Haven national office, which has a careful process for vetting both Kin and Welcoming Villages, and which then works to match needs to capacity.
Members of the congregation can contribute in a number of ways. The crucial need is temporary housing. If you have rooms and/or separate living spaces that you would be willing to make available for the Pink Haven project, you can fill out a housing offer form here. You can also fill out a general volunteer interest form here. And if you just want to be on an email list about the Pink Haven initiative, you can email Lu at and request to be added.
