Cleanup of UUSS’s Parkway Mile This Saturday, Nov. 12

With autumn fully upon us, on the UU mile of the American River Parkway the leaves are gently falling, brilliant greens have sprung from the recent rains, many salmon fishers are having great luck, some migrant birds are appearing… and the evidence of much human activity remains for us to clean up once again.
This next Saturday, November 12, please join us between 8:45-9:00 AM in the parking lot at the west end of Northrop Avenue, next to the levee, near Panera off Howe Avenue. If this will be your first time to assist, we’ll get your contact info and brief you on our cleanup activity. The crew will clean up trash from the Parkway until 10:30 and rejoin at that time at the foot of the levee stairway for a quick photo of the results of our work. Coffee and conversation afterward will be waiting for us at Panera if we choose.
The scene below was photographed last week from the riverbank adjacent to the golf course on the upstream end of the UU mile. We don’t often get to this part of the UU mile because it’s not easily accessible. What a beautiful place it is that we care for!
I hope you’ll be able to meet us at the river on Saturday.
With much to be thankful for,
Dave
