Sorrow and Joy. The Sorrow: Kulah, the 12 year old in the large Afghan family that UUSS has been helping, was in the hospital for 4 days last week and has been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Her family has learned to do finger sticks and insulin dosing. The Joy is that when they arrived in Sacramento I prioritized doctors visits for the youngest 6 children, and we caught it relatively early, before she had severe symptoms.
