Prayer Vigil for Immigrant Justice

Posted by Susan Lange

Posted on August 21, 2020

There is an ongoing hunger strike by 21 people in immigration custody at the Yuba County Jail in Marysville, CA.  Conditions there are intolerable.  Immigrant Justice at UUSS supports the people at the Yuba jail through visits, commissary help, phone calls, letters of support, and many other ways.  Please join us for the Prayer Vigil this evening.  The hunger strike is led by the people inside the jail which meant that the time frame had to follow their guidance, and it came on quickly.  Sorry for the short notice.  It means a lot to them to know there are people outside who know and care about them.

YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO A PRAYER VIGIL

We hold this space in solidarity with people who are being detained in ICE custody in California under inhumane conditions. The Lord’s Prayer and prayers in many faith traditions, in different languages, will be at the center of this Vigil.

All are welcome, regardless of faith affiliation.

Please come.
