Our Mission

Our Mission (20s & 30s Group)

The UUSS 20s & 30s Group aims to meet the needs of members, friends, and newcomers within our congregation between the ages of 18 and 39. Individuals within our age group come from a variety of life stages, and are likely to experience significant change as they go through this period of their lives.

A congregation such as UUSS can be an excellent place for people of our age group to find both peer and inter-generational communities, to explore their identities in relation to Unitarian Universalism, and to participate in meaningful service and leadership within the congregation, within the larger Unitarian Universalist community, and in the variety of other communities in which they participate.

In order to remain such a place, the congregation needs people in the 18-39 age range who are connected both to each other and to the larger congregation, and leadership that is aware of the skills and talents that those in our age group can provide to the congregation, and that is committed to developing and maintaining a strong and active presence for our age group in all aspects of congregational life.

Our group responds to these needs by:

  • Planning regular 20s & 30s Group events serving the interests, needs, and availability of a variety of people within our age group
  • Ensuring that group members are kept informed of important congregational news, including upcoming events, ongoing congregation-wide conversations, and opportunities for involvement in congregational activities and leadership
  • Forming connections with other groups serving UUs of our age group at the local, regional, and national level
  • Communicating regularly with congregational leaders, keeping them informed of our group’s activities, and encouraging them to seek out members of our group when opportunities for involvement in congregational activities and leadership arise.
