Monthly Update to the Congregation

This email provides updates from your UUSS volunteer leaders, and this month includes information from the Board of Trustees, the Program Council, and the Social Justice Coordinating Committee (SJCC).

Board of Trustees
The Board wishes to thank Sally Wilkins for all her good work while on the Board. Sally has had to step away from her board responsibilities for the time being. The Board has appointed Carl Crain to fill out the final year of her term. Welcome, Carl!

We also wish to extend a big thank you to Glory Wicklund for her years of service as UUSS Kitchen Captain. Glory has worked tirelessly to keep our kitchens functioning at their best and is now retiring from those duties. Thank you, Glory!

Welcome to our new Intern Minister, Sophia McKean! We’re excited to have their talents at UUSS over the next 2 years as they complete their ministerial studies.

Website News! The Board has voted to form a task force to work on a new website for UUSS. It’s a huge process and will take quite a lot of prep time. Keep an eye out over the next church year for updates on progress.

The Program Council encourages everyone to attend the Fall Congregational Meeting, where we will be announcing this year’s Unsung Hero recipient.

Social Justice Coordinating Committee (SJCC)

The SJCC wishes to thank our Community Partners and UUSS internal social justice groups for their participation in our first SJCC Activity Fair on October 12th!

Your elected Board of Trustees meets monthly. Our next meeting will be Thursday, October 23, at 6:30 PM, on Zoom (by accessing the same Zoom link as the Sunday morning services) and in-person gathering in the library. You are welcome to join us! The Board’s role is to oversee issues of UUSS finances, facilities, personnel and long-range planning; it makes decisions on policies rather than management decisions.
