Posted on August 21, 2025

This email provides updates from your UUSS volunteer leaders, and this month includes information from the Board of Trustees, the Program Council, and the Social Justice Coordinating Committee (SJCC).

Board of Trustees

  • The UUSS Board is pleased to announce a budgetary surplus of $59,950 for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. We are grateful to the congregation for your generous support of our staff, programs, and mission, and look forward to hearing recommendations from the Finance Committee in August about how to best apply the money.
  • Beginning the week of August 17, the church office will be open Tuesday – Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Closed on Mondays.

Program Council

  • We are incredibly grateful to our outgoing members Beth TenPas and Pam Martin. Beth continues to serve in leadership in the SJCC and Adult Enrichment, and Pam continues to bring us life affirming caffeine on the Brew Crew. Both will be greatly missed. We are also pleased to welcome Dave Paul and Angela Martin to the Program Council.
  • The Activity Fair will be on September 7, 2025, immediately after the Ingathering Service. The Activity Fair is a celebration of our many open groups, and we welcome everyone to join us on the covered patio and learn how to be more connected to congregational life!
  • Sean Fountain was elected to serve a second year as Chair of Program Council, for 2025-2026.
  • We are excited to be finalizing an updated Pathways trifold brochure to replace the existing Pathway Cards, which are no longer up to date. Pathways is provided to UUSS newcomers to encourage engagement in our community. The new trifold can be printed ‘in house’ which will allow us to change it more readily as needed.

SJCC

  • The Social Justice Coordinating Council announces the first UUSS SJCC Activity Fair on Sunday, October 12, immediately after service. This is an opportunity for members to become more involved with the various UUSS Social Justice groups and our Community Partners.
  • Our Shared Offering donations for Opening Doors, our Community Partner in June, totaled $3,825. In addition, the special 5th Sunday offering on July 29 provided $2,150 to the UU Church of the Philippines. Many thanks to our members and friends for enabling UUSS to be a significant source of support to these important organizations.
