Did you know…The UUSS campus is a neighborhood attraction! Our 5 ½ acres provide open spaces for members, friends and neighbors to have a stroll, meditate while moving around the labyrinth, sit in the shade of trees, enjoy our covered patio, walk the dog, watch their kids on the playground, and find moments of peace
Since the pandemic began, our team of Mercy Pedalers has helped out 1,100 persons living on the streets not far from UUSS! Did you know..UUSS is a center of hospitality to the many refugees resettling in the Sacramento area. Since 2015, our Refugee Support program has provided Welcome Baskets to set up housekeeping, garden plots for families to grow food, monetary donations, and meals. Maintaining and caring for the variety of trees on our park-like campus requires volunteer hours and significant costs for professional arborist services every year. Did you know…In 2019 UUSS held our first Trunk or Treat neighborhood event! On an October Sunday in our parking lot, host members dressed in costume, decorated their cars, and opened their trunks to offer treats and prizes. We welcomed a procession of costumed youth and children from the local neighborhood as well as UUSS
As part of UU the Vote, our volunteers encouraged prospective voters around the country to register to vote and then to cast their votes in November and January. UUSS members founded the Environmental Justice Committee of Sacramento Area Congregations Together. We are a contributing member of ACT. Our volunteers and friends have canvassed West Arden Arcade to learn our neighbors’ needs and concerns about environmental health and safety. We helped them to advocate for their own goals and to hold Sacramento County accountable.
