This morning our ACT Environmental Justice Committee planned our next steps to confront injustice in our County’s Environmental Justice General Plan amendment.  Also, we will start looking at specific environmental health issues in Sacramento environmental justice communities. ACT Environmental Justice Committee members learn about the enduring legacy of post-traumatic slave syndrome

Three of our Sacramento ACT Environmental Justice Committee members attended ACT’s breakfast on how the legacy of slavery continues to impact our communities in 2018.  It was excellent and very educational.  Looking forward to reading speaker Dr. Joy DeGruy’s book “Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome:  America’s Enduring Legacy of Injury and Healing.”

Speaking for justice at Sacramento Planning Commission Meeting

Eric Ross spoke to the Sacramento County Planning Commission on behalf of our Sacramento ACT Environmental Justice Committee.  Our Committee thinks affordable housing, transit access and climate change should be included in the County’s Environmental Justice General Plan amendment.  Committee members Gabby Trejo, Liz Sheilds, Bill Becker and Christine Bailey were there to support.

Sacramento ACT Environmental Justice Committee will speak for justice at County Planning Commission Meeting February 26 @ 5:30 p.m.

Our Sacramento ACT Environmental Justice committee will address the Sacramento Planning Commission on the need to include affordable housing, climate change action, and transit in the County’s Environmental Justice General Plan amendment that affects neighborhoods in West Arden Arcade, South Sacramento, North Highlands and North Vineyard. This Planning Commission meeting will be Monday, February 26, at 5:30
