The Book of Revelation & the Invention of Rapture Theology

Sunday, Aug. 10, 12:00 noon, Fahs Classroom.
Forum after church with Rev. Roger & Prof. John Watkins, University of Minnesota.
“The end is near!” has been heard for generations in many churches and popular culture like the bestselling but bad Left Behind novels. Like much ideology of white Christian nationalism, “rapture” thinking is not Biblical. Come find out who invented it in the 1800s and how it spread from Ireland to the US! Our speaker, John Watkins, is visiting his college friend Rev. Roger and UUSS this weekend. (He last presented on Apocalyptic Diplomacy for Rev. Roger’s Tuesday Night Forum at UUSS.)
