Reading, Responding to Poetry: Monday the 20th

JoAnn writes: This Monday, February 20, our 10:00 AM Zoom Lectio Divina gathering will feature the poem “Among the Baby Bok Choy”, by Jeanne Yu. I was kind of looking for a poem about the Chinese New Year / Lunar New Year, but couldn’t find one that felt just right. In this poem, Jeanne Yu considers both culture and generational differences. You can see the poem online at: https://www.rattle.com/among-the-baby-bok-choy-by-jeanne-yu/ .
As always, join our friendly discussions by going to our UUSS website at uuss.org/online on Monday and entering the same way you would attend a live streaming Zoom Sunday service.

Poetry lovers, it’s time! Three Friday afternoons: June 2, 9, and 23. Reading poetry as a spiritual practice; bring your favorite poems to share. 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in UUSS Room 12, facilitated by Doris Simonis and JoAnn Anglin.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

The group meets on Zoom at 10:00 on 1st and 3rd Mondays, so the next one will be on Monday, March 6.
JoAnn Anglin is the leader of the events, and she writes: Thanks, Ruby for asking.
But no, we don’t share our own poems at our Zoom gatherings.
The process is that I choose a poem related to our UU values and/or something in the news, at times.
I print the link in the weekly UUSS Newsletter that comes out the previous Friday.
When we gather on Zoom, I or one of the other attendees read the poem. Then we discuss.
Sometimes quite a few personal stories are shared about how the poem relates to a particular experience.
Hope you can join us.
JoAnn
Hi! When is the next poetry event? Are we able to share poetry that we have written?
