A message from Jack Young, a local friend who is using our building for this weekend’s NVC Workshop:
Hi friends,
I’m reaching out personally because I can’t think of anything I’ve ever done that has had a bigger impact on how I think about and interact with those around me than learning Nonviolent Communication (NVC).
One of the biggest realizations for me was seeing how deeply our culture—and even our everyday language—supports a “power-over” mentality, where communication often turns into a struggle over who’s right and who’s wrong. It’s not anyone’s fault for thinking this way—it’s what we’ve been taught. But it can be changed. NVC offers a path toward connection, collaboration, and real understanding instead. NVC has helped me stay connected even during tough conversations, hear what’s really going on beneath someone’s words—even in conflict—and express myself with more honesty and compassion. In a world that feels more divided and tense than ever, these skills feel absolutely essential. That’s why I’m so excited about this upcoming NVC workshop next Sunday. It’s not just theory—you’ll get real, hands-on practice in a supportive environment. Aya Caspi, a Certified NVC Trainer, creates a space that feels both safe and transformational, making it easier to break old communication patterns and build something new.

Here’s a short video that beautifully captures one of the core ideas—how you can connect more deeply with anyone by turning opinions into observations.
If you’ve ever wished for better ways to navigate disagreements, build stronger relationships, or simply be understood more deeply, this workshop is for you.
Please sign up now—there’s just one week left! And if you know someone else who might be interested, feel free to forward this along. I’d love to share this experience with you.

This event is offered in cooperation with the Easing Awake Buddhist Sangha.
Hope to see you there,
Be well,
Jack Young
