Mon., Jan. 6: Reading & Responding to Poetry

Welcome to Lectio Divina with JoAnn Anglin. She writes: Happy new year! Our first zoom of 2025 comes this Monday, January 6, at 10:00 AM at uuss.org/online. I’ve chosen this poem, “Elegy for the Personal Letter”, by Allison Joseph, for simple sentimental reasons. In her wistful tone, the poet conveys the “Auld lang syne” of times past and the ways we used to connect with distant relatives, moved away friends, guys in the military, etc., etc. It was often the way we received good news and bad. No emails (like this!) or texting. Does this make a difference? And maybe there’s an irony in saying, Let’s chat about this on Zoom next Monday? You can find the poem by Googling the title.
