Meet JoAnn Anglin and friends every 1st and 3rd Monday at 10:00 a.m. at uuss.org/online. JoAnn writes: Our poem is Before I Was a Gazan, by Naomi Shihab Nye. You can see it online at: https://poets.org/poem/i-was-gazan
It can be, for many of us, hard to think about, or articulate our feelings, which may be mixed, about the current events in Palestine / Israel. The news and its images can feel like too much, especially if added on by news about Sudan, Ukraine, Syria – dare I say ‘etc.”?
We have looked at Nye’s poems before. As a Palestinian American she might bring a particular perspective to the present situation. We look at the observation of one child, not just the overall political conflict. Does this make it more graspable? Let’s talk about it.
We’ll be online, Zooming at 10:00 AM Monday, entering via our UUSS website, just as we would to dial in on a Sunday service.
Feel free to leave a comment or question about this post.
