A. Preschool (M-F)

1. Floated in the past; no response at this first congregational meeting.

B. Chapel

1. Multi-purpose – Meditation, small group work, smaller memorials, weddings, other ceremonies, vespers
2. 100-person capacity.
3. No fixed seating.
4. Available to larger community also.
5. There is a lack of this size sanctuary in the area – would be useful for others.

C. Housing Possibilities

1. Types
   1. Co-housing: individual ownership with common areas, for seniors or for all ages.
   2. Rental Community – affordable, senior, or?
   3. Individually owned condominiums – senior or all ages
   4. Senior Housing with a dining room for 1-2 meals/day from a kitchen?
   5. Government Subsidized low-income housing (to generate revenue).
2. Reasons
   1. Simply to increase income.
   2. So church members and other UU’s could have a wonderful place to live, the campus would be maximally used (grounds and meeting spaces to be used by residents during non-church hours), UUSS and grounds would be enlivened. More gardeners and other volunteers would be available to the campus?
   3. To build community within this congregation and denomination.
   4. Bonus would 7-day presence of residents would increase campus security?
3. Concerns, Stipulations, Research
   1. Housing is not within our mission.
   2. Management should be by some outside entity – external to the church.
   3. Financing should be from outside the church.
   4. Consider a community land trust.
   5. Have a field trip to Fresno to see their housing. Visit other churches that also have housing? Other types of research?
   6. Liability issues?

D. Conference Space

1. For YUUTH
   1. So some meetings now only in Bay Area or Davis could also be here.
   2. Space for 40-50 at once, and ability to divide room or go to smaller spaces for breakouts.
2. Have showers available
3. For PCD meetings
4. And for?
5. Could overlap with Housing, Chapel, others
6. Could be Family Promise space also?
7. Near Kitchen, Showers (if added to campus)?

E. Laundry

1. For Family Promise – So UU volunteers don’t have to lug home, wash, dry & return to UUSS the bedding linens/ blankets.

F. Showers

1. For conferences
2. For gardeners.
3. For Family Promise

G. Job Training Kitchen

1. For Outside Agency/School to teach Family Promise clients employable skills.
2. To prepare food to give to shelters such as Loaves & Fishes.
3. Larger and more elaborate than church would otherwise need.
4. To double as the church kitchen.

H. Office Space to Rent

1. Modeled after other churches.
2. To generate income.
3. Rented offices could be on ground floor, with UUSS spaces on upper floor(s), or reverse.
4. Efficient because offices use parking lot during week, UUSS uses on weekends
5. Poor transit location offset by what would become premium setting (grounds)?
6. Increased mid-week activity would increase security of campus?

I. Labyrinth

1. For meditation.
2. Permanent.
3. There aren’t many in the area.
4. Outdoors (Would be a draw to others, also).
5. Indoors (Chapel? Conference or Performance space?).

J. Sermon Technology

1. Have sermons live on the web.
   1. For members and friends who are homebound, at a distance, or limited by bad weather.
   2. For potential members and friends (outreach).

K. Family Promise (Belongs in another section)

1. Near child outdoor play area.
2. Near kitchen.
3. Near any laundry or showers (see above).
4. Have a teaching kitchen (see above).

L. Children’s Play Area (Belongs in another section)

1. Fully wheelchair accessible (under equipment, not just perimeter).

M. Other Points

1. Use solar panels
2. Use rainwater harvesting?
3. Use Xeriscaping.
