A. Growing Food (Garden)

  1. Excited and happy with first season of garden
  2. Growing food is good intergenerational spiritual activity
  3. Working together with others is very fulfilling
  4. Location of garden is ideal with plenty of space to expand,
  5. Appropriate (location) for RE students to care for garden& watch growth
  6. Compost bins in kitchen for garden

B. Delivery of Food (to Kitchen) - Food Delivered by truck & members w/ bring dishes

  1. Kitchen needs space! ie .long counters for arranging items to be stored or served
  2. Kitchen needs accessible, centrally loccated doorways for truck deliverie
  3. Delivery door located near large refrigerator for storage
  4. Long counters in kitchen for deliveries, especially for dishes for events
  5. Carts handy for moving supplies from cars, trucks to kitchen area

C. Storage Food and Supplies

  1. Need more storage space
  2. Larger pantry for storage of large quantity of food related items, paper items
  3. Larger pantry and proper spaces for trays, all sizes of pots, bowls, dishes, food
  4. Professional quality regfrigerator and freezer for storage large events items
  5. Storage home for every item used in kitchen, properly labeled and visible(glass)
  6. Glasses, dishes, silverware, cooking equipement, paper supplies, food Roll-out shelves
  7. Space and proper storage of staples, non-perishables
  8. Table decorations and supplies storage area

D. Preparing Food

  1. Wants UU to go back to UU members: Committees and Ministry
  2. Circles prepare and serve all foods including Sunday lunches as fundrasiers
  3. Members also make& serve food special events, memorials, concerts, meetings
  4. New quality stove and with cooking facilities...top of the line
  5. Outdoor BBQ facilities, and picnic area
  6. Idea- UU lease land facing Sierra Blvd, and arrange with commercial firm, ie. Starbucks, to rent & build a top quality cafe with kitchen and permit UU to use facilities, as needed.
  7. Idea- Cafe/Bookstore combined using kitchen equipment
  8. Idea- Large UU kitchen that would accommodate culinary students, possibly homeless breadwinners, interested in training for culinary job/career
  9. Concern expressed about UU liability in serving food, ie. food poisoning
  10. Attention to sanitation and cleanliness procedure
  11. Coffeemakers suitable for serving tables (small carafes)

E. Serving Food

  1. Space in kitchen to organize food before set on serving tables to take to tables
  2. Basic table decoration supplies stored in
  3. Doorways wide enough for volunteers & carts serving food..
  4. Pass-through counters from kitchen to dining area for serving and clean up
  5. Collapsable or easy to store rolling carts and spaces in kitchen area when not in use
  6. Working electrical outlets in dining area
  7. Table cloths coordinated with different sizes of tables used for serving food
  8. Adequate supplies of dishes, silverware, serving dishes and glassware, ice buckets
  9. food warmers,

F. Clean Up

  1. New professional DISHWASHER, user friendly anyone can use working in kitchen
  2. Cleaning supplies that are easily accessible, to wipe and sanitize surfaces
  3. Containers to place dirty dishes, glasses, silverware
  4. Adequate supply disposal cans for garbage, recycle items, compost

G. Design

  1. Open spaciious, large kitchen designed with work room for many volunteers
  2. Remove wall separating kitchen area and refurbish kitchen in segments as able to afford Complete professional kitchen with state of the art equipment , stove, sink, refrig,
  3. Dishwasher
  4. Attractive and coordinated kitchen with easy to clean & maintain flooring and counters
  5. Proper lighting, ventilation, AC, sound system to hear service while doors closed
  6. Sound proof kitchen to prevent kitchen noises (sounds) from interfering with program
  7. Dining area include moveable wall that can be closed off while set up serving tables during services
  8. Kitchen supplies should be visible and easy to find by anyone
  9. Kitchen supplies maintained
  10. Staff or volunteer role for oversight of keeping kitchen maintained

H. Control Security, Vermin

  1. Proper protection of kitchen but groups easy access for events
  2. All food storage and kitchen area kept secure from pests or vermin
