Want to Start Something New at UUSS
Committees, Activity Groups, and Adult Enrichment classes provide community outreach, perform tasks that keep the church functioning, and/or meet social or personal needs of members.
Committees are the most formal of the groups and usually focus on maintaining or enhancing the church community or facilities.
- Established by the Board of Trustees or the Program Council
- Defined by a committee charter
- Chaired by a UUSS member
- Open to the public unless there is a compelling reason to be closed
- Listed in Pathways
- Eligible for funding through the UUSS budget
Activity groups support a special interest of a group of members or friends. This may be political, educational, artistic, or just for fun.
- Established by any member or friend, typically by an invitation in the Unigram or Blue Sheet
- Defined by a simple statement of purpose instead of a charter
- Represented by a contact person who is a UUSS member
- Open to the public unless there is a compelling reason to be closed
- Listed in Pathways
- Not eligible for funding except possible use of facilities for meetings
Adult Enrichment classes are educational, though they can be fun, too!
- Proposed by any member or friend; approved by the Adult Enrichment Committee
- Meet for a limited number of sessions
- Led by any qualified teacher or facilitator
- Open to the public
- Not listed in Pathways, but advertised in the Unigram and Blue Sheet
- Not eligible for funding; may charge participants a small fee
