The Unitarian Universalist Society of Sacramento (UUSS) Announces a Search for the Position of MUSIC DIRECTOR
The successful candidate will inspire and nurture all the generations of the congregation to develop and participate in a variety of quality musical experiences that enrich the worship and community life of UUSS. Regular responsibilities include planning and leading music programs for Sunday Services, including music appropriate for children and youth during intergenerational services; rehearsing regular and special choral and/or instrumental groups during the week; and attending Music and Religious Services Committee meetings as directed by the Lead Minister. Duties on Sundays include leading the congregational singing, conducting choral or instrumental groups as needed, and facilitating the performance of special music by guest musicians. The Music Director is responsible for the selection of music to compliment the church service in consultation with the Lead Minister, Accompanist and guest musicians. The congregation values its music ministry, so the Music Director plays a central role in the life of the church.
There are two services each Sunday, except during the summer when there is only one service. The position averages 15 hours per week and pays $10,000-12,000 per year with a negotiable, generous number of weeks off. A wide variety of music, including classical, world music, folk and pop are desired and welcome at UUSS. The Music Director works with the Accompanist under the supervision of the Lead Minister.
